The Assignment
Who
Kaleidoscope Dreams Foundation, founded by Alicia Keys, announced a multi-city literacy initiative planned for 1,250 students in Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, and New York City.
The plan
Students will use a custom “You Don’t Know My Name...yet” module featuring vocabulary from the Hell’s Kitchen Broadway soundtrack and Alicia Keys’ songs, plus live kickoff workshops.
The goal
Help young people build vocabulary while exploring creativity, resilience, and their own voice through music and self-expression.
Every young person deserves the chance to see themselves as a creator, a dreamer, and a leader. Kaleidoscope Dreams Foundation, founded by 15-time GRAMMY Award–winning artist Alicia Keys, is partnering with Rhymes With Reason to make that vision real for students across the country.
Announced for October 2025, the multi-city initiative planned to bring Rhymes With Reason’s digital platform — teaching vocabulary through popular music — to 1,250 students in Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, and New York City.
The custom “You Don’t Know My Name...yet” learning module draws from Alicia Keys’ Broadway musical Hell’s Kitchen and her discography. It challenges students to explore words tied to creativity, resilience, and finding their own voice.
The announced program also includes live kickoff workshops, school-year learning, summer programming, and recognition for student growth, creativity, and achievement — helping students discover the power of their words and the potential of their dreams.
